We met during a full moon, Friday the 13th of October 2000. We were in front of a wonderful restaurant on the Upper East Side of Manhattan.

As we, over time, got to know one another we realized that food was our shared passion--and while living together in NYC, our happiness was breaking bread for dinner or brunch with our various friends at our apartment, an exceedingly rare happening in a restaurant obsessed city.

I was in the designer fashion business and it seemed that my fashion sense and creativity has spilled over into my table settings and challenged me to never repeat a given table design.

​

Ian's love of cooking came from his desire to cook for and with his children. Having lost his dad at the age of 5, he hoped that the family meal would create warm memories for them to carry through their lives.

 

Upon retiring and moving permanently to SMA ,we began hosting many dinner parties, and at one of them were asked,"who catered the dinner?"

​

Later that evening as we were clearing and cleaning, we answered, to each other, that question posed earlier.

 

And COCKTAIL CATERING was born!

 

Because cocktail parties in SMA are ubiquitous, where hors d'oeuves  have become the entire meal, we thought this a good place to begin.

Happily our business has flourished.

 

As we grew, we also, with much success, expanded our footprint to include intimate specialty dinners in our home.
